If I am not mistaken, the song used in the Bear Family Records set is actually not a studio (or live) recording of the song, but has been simply taken from the film soundtrack, much like a DVD rip. The Singer is Merle Haggard, but he sang it in the style of Glen Campbell. Obviously you have never listened to Merle Haggard sing ;-) I love the movie too!
